Every spring in the heart of California’s agricultural capitol, miles of groves are filled with the most luscious blossoms and blooms. The annual phenomenon attracts photographers from near and far to utilize this stunning backdrop Mother Nature so graciously provides. As one of those photographers myself, hosting a photography session in California’s blossoming orchards was at the top of my artistic bucket list!
In the beginning of our planning process for Samantha and Aaron’s anniversary session, we wanted to use the blossoming backdrop of the Almond Trees. If you haven’t yet seen Almond Tree blossoms, they are the most dainty white flower. Bushels of blooms form on each tree and the trees are aligned with perfect spacing in the neatest rows. This almost give the illusion of snow, believe it or not! Unfortunately, our timing was missed just barely. We were driving up from San Diego which was about a 4.5 hour drive north to the orchards. My dear friend shared another idea with us: Peach Trees. Peach trees? Peach trees blossom? Yes, yes they do. Like Almond trees, Peach trees provide petite soft pink flowers. Although we missed our window for the Almond tree blossoms, the Peach trees were in their prime, and they were nothing short of astonishing.
Having a photographer friend who was local to the area was tremendous help in coordinating the timing of our anniversary session with my sweet couple, Samantha and Aaron. It was then I was taught that the blossoms only bloom for a very short period of time, and it doesn’t quite happen the same time each year. We had to wait for our window and be ready to jump.
The Peach tree blossoms offered something sweet and personal, something we weren’t originally anticipating: pure spring time romance.
